MAMLE Awards

Janet Nesin-Reynolds Outstanding Middle Level Education Award

MAMLE seeks to honor ONE individual each year whose educational practices reflect the core beliefs of our organization. Education stakeholders eligible for the Janet Nesin-Reynolds Outstanding Middle Level Educator Award include teachers, guidance counselors, professors, school administrators, and school board members. 

MAMLE’s core beliefs are:
1. Meeting the developmental needs of young adolescents 
2. Promoting local professional development 
3. Promoting a healthy work environment for both students and staff
4. Exemplifying high standards based on research
5. Inviting high participation by students, parents, and/or the community 

Preliminary Criteria:
1. Nominee has at least three years of education experience 
2. Nominee currently works with middle school students in some capacity 
3. Nominee is a member of MAMLE (individually, institutionally, or regionally) 

Self-nominations are accepted. The individual selected for this award will be expected to present a session at the annual MAMLE conference and will be presented this award at our MAMLE conference award luncheon. 

Middle Level Exemplary Practice Recognition Award

MAMLE seeks to recognize individuals, teams, and/or schools whose educational practices exemplify excellent middle level education in the state of Maine. By recognizing such practices we hope to share and promote high standards of middle level education across the state. 

Those who receive the award will be asked to attend and present at the annual MAMLE conference. The award will be presented during the awards luncheon at the conference.

Each year, we award up to five total exemplary practice awards.  

Promising Middle Level Educator Award

MAMLE seeks to honor individuals beginning their careers whose educational practices reflect the core beliefs of our organization.

MAMLE Core Beliefs and Practices:
1. Meets the developmental needs of young adolescents 
2. Enjoys teaching middle level learners
3. Participates in professional development
4. Promotes a healthy learning environment for students and colleagues 
5. Uses research to guide practice and make instructional decisions 
6. Invites participation by students, parents, and/or the community

Criteria:
1. Nominee is either a pre-service teacher (must be senior) or has one to three years of education experience 
2. Nominee is a member of MAMLE (institutionally, individually, or regionally) 

One Promising Middle Level Educator Award will be given annually. The awardee is required to attend and/or present at the annual MAMLE conference to receive their award at the award luncheon.  Self-nominations are not accepted.
